IntroductionThe TI-83 is an updated version of the TI-82, which allows for backward compatibilty with the BASIC programming language. This graphing calculator adds more functionablity over the TI-82, and also supports the assembly language, without the need to "hack" the calculator. TI implemented a newer case design with this calculator, which has carried on up until 2004. The TI-83+/84+ lines of calculators have taken the place of this model. Model Specifications
Checking ROM VersionIf you would like to see which ROM chip your calculator came with, press the following key sequence: [MODE] [Alpha] [S] Warning!! By pressing [ENTER], you will erase your calculators memory, losing all data and programs. Press any other key to exit safely back to the TI-OS (Operating System). There are several different ROM versions for the TI-83, below is a list of them: 1.02, 1.03, 1.04, 1.06, 1.07, 1.08, 1.10 Programming LanguagesUnlike the TI-82, this calculator supports the assembly language, and is backwards compatible with the TI-82 in BASIC. The TI-83 adds some financial functions, as well as Strings, user defined lists, and a larger matrix database. Warning!! Please note that while an assembly program is being executed, it has the potential to crash, and wipe everything off of your calculator. Also, if you are not careful, when the assembly program crashes, it could be fatal for the calculator.
