TI releases new 84+ OS, TIFW u
Texas Instruments has released a new OS for the 84+, version 2.53MP. If you have been hiding under a rock for the past week or so, this OS was leaked to us by unknown means, and has been under heavy scrutiny by the community. So far, there have been 20 BASIC tokens found, and some 96 asm bcalls located (I believe).

One of the key features of this OS is the new pretty print function, or known as Math Print (hence the MP in the version number).

While this sounds like an interesting feature, it might cause you some havoc if you are an avid game player with your 84+ or 84+SE. Namely, with the MathPrint turned on, any BASIC game utilizing the homescreen will see a MASSIVE reduction in display speeds. I tested the latest pokemon files (no you can not have them yet :p) and needless to say, Pokemon Purple is unplayable with Mathprint on. With mathprint off, it is slightly better, but still slow.

My own personal recommendation would be to stay away from this OS, unless you are an avid math user and do not care for games. Otherwise, let us wait and see if TI will be nice enough to update this OS with the slew of bugs we have found, fixed.

Now on to TI-Freakware updates..

The site has not seen a whole lot of activity recently, which is sad. I was hoping that with the recent progress Pokemon Purple has seen, that we might get some more visitors, but that does not seem to be the case. I encourage any who read this to visit our forums and at least say hello, the forums are quite lonely right now. :(

And as stated, Pokemon Purple has been seeing massive amounts of progress. I have managed to get the game ready for you to get your first pokemon. I am going through and finalizing the equations and such, making sure it will work on the first run. Once that is completed, all that is needed is to set up the pokemon party menu, and the battle system, and I can release upon the world, a brand new beta version.

Lachprog recently made it on ticalc.orgs program of the year yet again, with his latest project, Metroid, found here. This puts Lachprog up for the third one in a row for the 68k catagory.
